The Key Bank on 17th s.w. and 98th street s.w. was scene of an attempted bank robbery by a white male in his 20's late on Friday afternoon July 13. He fled and was being sought.

White Center Bank Robbery Suspect Identified
King County Sheriff’s Detectives have identified and arrested a 21 year Seattle man for attempting to rob the Key Bank in White Center on July 13th.
On July 18th detectives sent a bulletin to the media with a photo of the suspect taken during the robbery asking for the public’s help indentifying him. Detectives said they received numerous tips from citizens in the White Center area who said they recognized the suspect after seeing his picture on local media sites.
Detectives located and arrested the suspect late Wednesday evening near S177 and 1st Ave S. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail.

Can You Identify This Bank Robber?
The King County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man who robbed a bank last Friday afternoon in the White Center area.
The incident occurred at the Key Bank in the 9600 block of SW 17th around 4pm on July 13th. The suspect entered the bank and produced a note demanding money. The suspect fled on foot northbound towards Roxbury.
The suspect is described as a white male, 24-27, 5’ 6”- 5’8” with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark zippered hoodie, a dark t-shirt, and gray knit cap.

Sgt. Cindi West with the King County Sheriff's Office provided a few more details on Friday's robbery attempt of the Key Bank at 9655 17th Ave S.W.
West said the suspect is described as a white male, 5'6", skinny, wearing eye glasses, a grey zip-up hoodie, dark t-shirt underneath and a grey knit cap.
The failed attempt started with the suspect handing a "demand note" to an employee, West said. She did not go into detail on how the robbery attempt was foiled.

Key Bank in White Center was the scene of an attempted bank robbery this afternoon by what police said was a white male in his 20's. He was described as weighing 150 lbs, wearing glasses and a grey beanie style hat.
The robbery was unsuccessful and the suspect fled on foot. A search was launched by King County Sheriff's deputies on foot and via car and helicopter
According to Brad Truesdell Meyers, manager at Malo's Autobody across the street the suspect did not flee on foot as previously reported but "drove off. Here's the kicker! There was a multicar accident on 17th & Roxbury and he drove right through it . Two minutes later a county deputy was In pursuit moving real fast hot on his tail."
