The West Seattle Nursery Annual Holiday Open House is set for Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 11 am to 3 pm and this event in years past has been full to overflowing.

The event features free food, free espresso and free seminars on Holiday themed matters.

In a mailing to customers, the nursery provided details:

Guest Speakers:
11am to 12pm: Wreath Making 101 with Mary Holdsworth, West Seattle Nursery Staff. Back by popular demand! Mary will inspire you to really deck the halls! And get you inspired for our 2nd annual wreath making competition (see below).

1pm to 2pm: Hard Cider Brewing with Matt Pope, City Fruit Instructor. Got Apples? Learn how to brew your own pure, liquid gold! Packs a powerful punch, good for what ails ya!

Other Open House Draws:
Mike Feagins with Excellent Edge Sharpening will be here to sharpen your knives, scissors and gardening tools-the first item is free and additional items can be dropped off for pick up the following Monday after 2pm.
Zoe Huffman of Daily Bird Pottery will be here presenting their beautiful dishware that is thrown, detailed and fired sans glaze, hence their moniker "Naked Pottery." These high quality dishes are fine to go in the micro, the dishwasher and they are chip proof too.

West Seattle Nursery's Second Annual Wreath Making Competition

For customers who love making wreaths every season and for those of you who have never done it before, we invite you to get creative and wow us with your wreath art. Here's how to enter:

Entries will be accepted from November 11 through December 12, 2012

Prizes:
First Place: $50 gift certificate
Second Place: $25 gift certificate
Third Place $15 gift certificate
Honorable Mention: $15 gift certificate

Rules:
-All wreaths must be made at West Seattle Nursery, we have greens and materials or you may use your own;
-All contestants must fill out an entry form at the time of purchase and all contestants must send a photo of their finished wreath to the nursery via e-mail by the December 12, 2012 deadline (pick up an entry form for more information);
-No current employees of West Seattle Nursery or family members of current employees may participate;
-West Seattle Nursery will post photos of the winning entries on its Facebook Page and Website within a week of the contest deadline. (We also reserve the right to post all other wreath photos we receive).

West Seattle Nursery staff will be on hand to answer any questions, provide technical assistance, and encourage each and every wreath maker.
