Lance and Deborah Gooden and their dog Mollie. They were out walking even on a very rainy day. Mollie is very active and it keeps them active too.
Mollie, a pure bred Britttany, owned by Deborah and Lance Gooden came from, "a friend of mine at work whose father breeds Brittany's," said Deborah. Mollie is four years old.
"She's got a lot of energy," Deborah said, "and Brittany's are very very loving and need attention constantly, but also extremely active. She's a hunter. She doesn't hunt but she's enthusiastic about all the birds and squirrels and anything that moves."
Throughout our interview with the Gooden's Mollie was wailing, cooing, barking and otherwise vocalizing. "She's a big talker," explained Deborah.
True to her heritage, "When we go on walks," Lance said, "she will dig up a mole hill and try to find the mole."
"She also grabs things like socks or even scissors and runs with them," Deborah offered, "One of the funniest times was when she grabbed a pair of scissors and ran outside. She wants you to chase her. She makes up games."
Aside from her frequent walks Mollie is also good for the Goodens because, "She gets us away from the TV and gets us out walking," Lance explained. "We have two big recliners and we will throw the ball between us and she will get it but pretty soon we have to get up and go get the ball. So she gets us out of the chair."
They feed her half a can of wet food and dry food twice a day. She gets a variety of treats (liver treats are a favorite) and, "I always have treats on me," said Lance, "so I'm popular with all dogs."
Lincoln Park is a favorite walk for Mollie.
Her best friend is another Mollie (a bulldog) in the condo the Goodens own and she's a best friend. The two dogs will come outside on their mutual decks and talk to each other.
Mollie's toys range from toys to socks and, "It's all about the game."
"Mollie is really inquisitive, gets me out the door and leads me through the park. I take her on the trails and there are tons of trails in the park. She's a great hunter," said Lance.
Deborah summed up by saying, "Mollie is a character. She brings love to our life and makes us playful and she's a beauty."
