Seattle Fire Department Public Information Officer Kyle Moore shared:
"The Fire Investigator determined the cause to be accidental, electrical wiring in the wall overheated and ignited a fire in the kitchen.

The damage estimate is $40,000."

An unoccupied home on the 4800 block of SW Juneau caught fire Wednesday
night, apparently from the basement or the back of the house. The home was being remodeled and the owner was in the house earlier today.

A neighbor Buck Matthews, called in the fire after seeing billowing smoke and a flicker of light inside. Seattle Fire Department personnell, 15 units in total responded within 2 minutes and quickly extinguished the fire.

Matthews said, "I was walking over to check on a cat and I walked back and smelled a funny smoke so I went inside to tell my housemate, and then right as I was about to tell him my other housemate came and said I think i smell something burning over here. So we went outside and saw flickering light on the inside and you could tell it was from this house. We could see the smoke wafting from the backside of the house. They are remodeling and they had been here today. We went up and looked at the kitchen and did see the flames and called 911 and they were here so fast, really fast."

There were no injuries.

No damage estimate was immediately available and the fire is under investigation.
