Seattle Girls’ Choir: Lessons and Carols Friday 12/21 at Holy Rosary in West Seattle
Mon, 12/17/2012
The two ensembles of Seattle Girls’ Choir, pictured, will perform advent Lessons and Carols at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle (4210 SW Genesee St., 98116 http://www.holyrosaryseattle.org). An elegant prelude to Christmas, this wonderful English tradition combines lessons read and carols sung by the young women of the choir.
Prime Voci, made up of high school women from throughout the Puget Sound region and conducted by Artistic Director Jacob Winkler, recently recorded a new CD of holiday music at Holy Rosary entitled Carmina Angelorum: Songs for Treble and Harp. They will be joined by Cantamus, an ensemble of middle school girls conducted by Assistant Artistic Director, Alex Gagiu. Three performers of Cantamus live in West Seattle: 8th grader Elizabeth Baer attends Hamilton Middle School, 8th grader Emma Strevey attends Pathfinder K-8, and Our Lady of Guadalupe 8th grader Gena Hurlocker.
Proceeds will go to Toys for Tots
