Seattle Public Schools is seeking advertisers to help pay for their 2013-2014 wall calendar and family guide, the first time they have been forced to find outside funding due to budget constraints.
Here are the details from SPS:
Due to budget cuts, advertising required to fully fund calendar
Seattle Public Schools is seeking sponsorship support to cover production costs for its annual wall calendar, an essential district resource that reaches an audience of 55,000 families, staff and community members.
This will be the second year the district has offered sponsorship opportunities for the calendar, with one important difference: Last year, sponsorship dollars covered a portion of the costs. This year, because of budget cuts, sponsorships are needed to fund all of the calendar’s production expenses.
“As school districts continue to face budget challenges, they have eliminated their calendar or offered it online only, which isn’t easily accessible to those without regular Internet access,” said Lesley Rogers, Chief Communications Officer. “We are relying on our generous community sponsors to ensure that the Seattle Public Schools calendar continues to be available to all of our families.”
Local businesses, nonprofits and other organizations are invited to reach a large audience through their sponsorships. Advertisers can sponsor one or more months on the color calendar on a first-come, first- served basis. Advertisements will appear alongside information about school holidays, School Board meetings and other important dates. The sponsor’s promotion material must go through a review process to ensure there are no conflicts with any District policy.
Another way for organizations to gain visibility is through a smaller sponsorships in the family resources informational section of the calendar. This section refers families to information about transportation, lunch menus, testing schedules and key contact information.
All revenue earned from calendar sponsorship will be used specifically to defray calendar production costs.
