A few more details have emerged in the Jan. 31 estate sale robbery in West Seattle that resulted in a police manhunt for the suspect.

According to the police report released in the robbery, the man hired to execute an estate sale for a deceased property owner on the 3400 block of Belvidere Ave. S.W. called 911 after a white male wearing a black ski mask entered the home and robbed the place.

The witness told police a few customers and his staff were inside the home when the suspect charged in with a black handgun at 3:40 p.m. and yelled, “This is a robbery, get down!” He forced his victims to the ground at gunpoint and ordered them not to look at his face (which was also covered by a black ski mask). Fearing for their safety, everyone did as they were told and stayed down.

The suspect went for the jewelry case first and banged on it several times in an attempt to shatter the glass. He was unsuccessful and witnesses said the man became frustrated, so one of the staff members told him the case was unlocked. The suspect opened the case and took the jewelry, and then stole $4,000 from a cash register before shoving it to the ground and running from the house.

A witness outside the home saw the suspect flee the house and run west on S.W. Hinds. He carefully followed and saw him run southbound on 38th Ave. S.W. before giving up chase, knowing the suspect was armed.
For anyone not following the story before this post, the suspect was able to get away.

In their follow-up investigation, police note the estate sale was listed on Craigslist with photos of jewelry and other items available for sale.

Police have released photos of the jewelry stolen and a possible getaway vehicle they are looking for.
