Elizabeth Gordon, co-owner of Uncle Mike's Superlicious BBQ in White Center, joined the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council on Sept. 6, 2013.
The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council - a White Center community group – took a few minutes to hear from, vote for, and welcome their newest member on Sept. 5: Elizabeth Gordon, co-owner of Uncle Mike’s Superlicious BBQ restaurant in White Center.
NHUAC President Barbara Dobkin decided to cut through the red tape at the meeting’s onset, foregoing bylaws that would make the process of bringing their new member on a lengthier ordeal, and Gordon was allowed to explain her interest in joining the group.
“I would say that one of our (speaking for her husband and co-owner Mike Gordon) big interests is the well-being of the community all together and how it is progressing and developing, and barriers to it becoming a stronger community,” Gordon said.
“The first time I came to a NHUAC meeting it seemed like this was one place where concerns could be voiced and there was some access to county government without having to go to Seattle.”
“I personally think she’ll just be a great addition to our council,” Dobkin said before putting Gordon’s board inclusion to a vote. NHUAC unanimously accepted her.
“So you can come right up!” Dobkin exclaimed to a round of applause, and with that Elizabeth Gordon took her seat with the council.
