Youth fashion, with a healthy dose of humor from host Nate Jackson was the focus of a show held Saturday night, Sept. 14 in West Seattle. Inner-city & at-risk youth were the beneficiaries of the event through the Unified Outreach Fashion Program. Tyrone provided the musical performance.
For over a decade designer Carlisia Minnis and the artists at MAC Fashion House have established themselves as a company whose brand is as unique as Seattle itself.
Recognized as an industry leader in custom clothing, handbags, and infant accessories; Carlisia and MAC Fashion House lent their talents to the Unified Outreach non-profit youth Arts program for the 2013 Celebrity Invite Youth Fashion Expose’.
On stage were 20 aspiring models from the Unified Outreach and working behind the scenes were youth from the City of Seattle work training in the Arts program.
David Toledo, one of the event organizers said, "The entire behind the scenes crew was made up of teens from 15 to 18 years old from the Work Training in the Arts program. They did the sound and lighting, facilities, photo and video show, stage set up, etc. The adults who worked so hard on the show were April Goode who oversaw the program and Carlisia Minnis who did all of the original models clothing."
In the audience was a mixture of both local and national personalities, sports stars, political figures, media personalities, major advertising agencies, and merchandizing and department store buyers; provided the youth an excellent opportunity to network with industry leaders and local heroes who will be available for the meet & greet following the show.
Personalities in attendance included Ricardo Frazier (Manager for Sir Mixalot), Rapper Edawg, Jazym Scott & Big World Beats, the Vicious Puppies, Andre Bostic & Robin Wolcott, Floor Rockers.
The buffet and desert selection was provided free by Goode Girls Catering.
The event was held a the WSC Exhibition Hall at 4400 42nd Ave SW.
