Kevin Fawcett, Charles McElevey (consultant), and Drew Locke are looking forward to getting the West Seattle Brewing Company open but need help to get the last pieces in place to complete the business.
UPDATE Oct. 12
The Kickstarter campaign to get the West Seattle Brewing Company fully funded is going pretty well. The company hopes to raise $20,000 to get the business launched and open in December and in four days has raised $2000. Here's the link to the Kickstarter page to see their progress so far.

The West Seattle Brewing Company has been in the process of remodeling and preparing to open for what seems like a couple of years. They, actually signed the lease for the former Tervo's Market spot at the point of the triangle at 4415 Fauntleroy Way S.W. on July 1, 2012 so it has been 15 months. It's been even longer in the planning process however. The West Seattle Herald told you about owners Kevin Fawcett and Drew Locke in August.
They would love to get the craft beer flowing but since this is a small, essentially self financed business they are looking for some help to get it wrapped up.
They've started a Kickstarter campaign to raise the final $20,000 to get them over the top by hopefully Dec. 1.
They have a video on the page that details their story up to now showing progress photos and more.
Kickstarter, the popular fundraising online tool, is often used by both non-profit organizations and businesses alike to raise small amounts of money to get projects started. In this case the business is nearly complete and there are some real rewards offered for those who contribute.

They've made substantial progress and are planning some unique features. The beer taps for example will be mounted directly in the glass cooler doors. That means the beer poured is as cold and fresh as possible. They will have a 24 foot long bar, made from a single tree.
They've gotten some serious help with their preparations from noted West Seattle based Brewmaster Charles McElevey who said that craft breweries like this are on rise because, "Shelf life and the quality of beer go in opposite directions. Fresh beer tastes better."
They detail the "risks and challenges" on the Kickstarter page:
"Our primary challenge is going to be timing the Liquor Control Boards final walk through to be as close to the construction finishing as possible. Getting an idea for current wait times will help us as we approach completion. If we wait until we're done to call, we could be sitting up to a month, ready, but unable to open the doors! This is what happened with our TTB Brewers' Notice, LCB application and our lease. If we hadn't taken the lease we would have lost the space. But in signing the lease, it meant we had to sit and pay rent for 6 months before we could even sell ANYTHING! The amount of work to do will still undoubtedly be challenging at times, but this is the fun part for us and as that goes, the consequence for any real delays will just mean a week or two later Grand Opening. We are however well conditioned by now to working long days; and EVERY day, and expect to be all the more driven behind the inspiration of this final push."
On the the page they also say the business is intended to be , "A haven for soccer fans, the homebrewing community, of course beer connoisseurs, and with a platform for musicians and artists to share their work, we cannot wait to bring this place to life!"
