The triangular slice of land, approximately 25,000 square feet, indicated in the red overlay has been sold to a local real estate holding company by BNSF Railway. The company said it plans to use the location as a boat storage area.
A 25,000 square foot triangular chunk of land along Harbor Ave. S.W. has been sold by BNSF Railway to United Pacific Urban Realty Services a Washington LLC. The land fronts on Harbor Ave S.W. roughly between Lotus Ave. S.W. and the entrance to Jack Block Park.
It was aquired, the company said, in a combination cash and land swap deal with the railroad.
Since the area is part of a superfund site that has not been remediated, building would carry an extra cost until the site is cleaned up. It is zoned I/G (Industrial/General) and has an 85 foot height limit.
Plans are being made to clear away the vegetation on the site, which is in fact partially paved, and use it as a storage location for private boat owners. The company said they expect to have the site fully prepared in the next 90 days.
