Rather than offer small plates on restaurant happenings in West Seattle and White Center, we are compiling many into a casino-esque buffet line to gorge upon. Please enjoy!
First off, a few notes from White Center:
Full Tilt reintroduces a classic. Full Tilt Ice Cream announced a new flavor in October that honors classic grunge band Mudhoney’s Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge album, released by Sub Pop in 1991. The packaging for the record and ice cream look the same, but the insides are a bit different. The ice cream (called "Mudhoney")consists of cinnamon, honey and fudge, while the band has consisted of Mark Arm, Steve Turner, Guy Maddison, Dan Peters and Matt Lukin.
Taqueria El Mezon opens up. White Center has a new Mexican restaurant feeding the masses. El Mezon opened on Oct. 20 and serves the goods (on house made tortillas) seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They are located at 9641 15th Ave. S.W.

Zippy’s expansion includes a stage and (eventually) a bar. Zippy’s Giant Burgers, located at 9614 14th Ave. S.W., has expanded. Owner Blaine Cook knocked down the wall to the next-door space in recent months to make room for additional seating, a stage for live music and, eventually, a full bar serving liquor.

As for West Seattle:
Cassis is coming. The Alki Arts gallery at 2820 Alki Ave. S.W. closed at the end of September, but the space is ready for new life with the introduction of Cassis, a French bistro that had a long and popular run on Capitol Hill before closing in 2004.
Owner/Chef Jef Fike hasn’t announced an official opening date beyond “February”, but his latest Facebook post from Oct. 20 proclaims, “Liquor license is in the works and demo/renovation starts in two weeks. Here we go!” Fike also announced he’ll be doing a “pop up” dinner in West Seattle in January for people to preview the menu. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details.
Make your own ‘ZAW. Taking the take-and-bake pizza model to a more refined level, ‘ZAW Artisan Bake at Home Pizza just opened at 4151 Fauntleroy Way S.W. where owner Aaron Miller said operating hours are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. ‘Zaw already has multiple locations in Seattle.

Quadrato adds to Junction choices. Pizzeria 22 owner and Chef Cary Kemp has opened his second West Seattle restaurant with Quadrato, specializing in grilled sandwiches, pizza and salads. Located at 4302 S.W. Oregon St., the new joint is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. “Quadrato is now three weeks old and our customers have been happy with our Italian grab-and-go grilled sandwiches as well as our Roman style pan pizza that is sold in large square sizes,” Kemp said on Oct. 29. As a sidenote, Kemp is also building out the space next to Pizzeria 22 (at 4213 S.W. College St.) for party and banquet events and restaurant overflow. He hopes to have it complete by the end of the year.
Wanna teriyaki or burger? If so, Wanna Charbroiled Burger and Teriyaki at 1513 S.W. Holden St. in Highland Park should have you covered. This is the former home of Zippy’s and more recently Athena.
Fatburger broadens choices on Alki. Luckily, after putting down a Fatburger you’ll be able to walk it off along Alki Beach. California-based chain Fatburger and Buffalo’s Express opened on Oct. 28 at 2738 Alki Ave. S.W. after Bada Bistro closed down over the summer. Specialties include a slew of chicken wing choices (from the “Buffalo” side of things) and big burgers along with traditional American fare.
Redline is back, but different. Redline used to be a pro-Coug bar located at the southwest corner of 35th Ave. S.W. and S.W. Avalon Way (where the Bridge currently resides). After closing in 2010, then-owner Scott Goerig started working with other partners to bring it back as a family style sports bar just across the street (on the southeast corner of the intersection). That plan is to open early November.
