The Redline WS, delayed for months, due, the owners say to a change in building ownership is finally putting the finishing touches on their new incarnation of the former West Seattle sports bar. This time around the owner is new and the concept is broader and more inclusive. Mike Bauer is the man main for the restaurant but he's enlisted the help of Gen. Mgr. Chris Ramsey and former Redline owner Scott Goerig and consultant Kris Quigley. They hope to be open this weekend.

With the closure of the Rocksport, West Seattle has not had a sports focused restaurant bar and the Redline hopes to fill that need for the family by offering two distinct zones. One for over 21 and the other for the family.

The new business will seat around 105 people, has 12 covered parking spaces in the adjacent garage, (more on adjacent streets) and will have a tightly focused menu. They will serve an array of Angus beef sliders (and a veggie version), wings (with a variety of sauces), and a wide selection of New York style hand tossed pizza. The chef is Joshua Huckaby, former owner of Post Alley Pizza whose work was recognized by the New York Times.

The pizzas can be made very quickly, cooking literally in around 2 minutes once prepared.

As much as possible Goerig said, the food and beverages will be sourced locally even the slider buns by Coeur d'Alene Bakery in Kent.

The composite granite bar is 55 feet long (and features stainless steel facing and hooks for coats an purses) and the Redline will offer 14 beers on tap, plus some signature drinks from the full bar. "The reason the bar is so big is because we want to be a neighborhood spot that feels like home everyday for patrons, knowing games are not on 24/7, 365," said Goerig.

Though they will open at 11am to begin with, the plan is to become a commuter stop in the mornings starting in December, opening at 6am. To make that work, they will serve espresso, offer baked goods and other easy prep foods, and something more. On some of the 16 flat screen monitors they will display the One Bus Away information so people can wait comfortably inside and not miss their bus at the stop just outside on 35th S.W.

The old Redline Sports Bar, that was located across the street (where The Bridge restaurant/bar is located for a little while longer) was known as a "Cougar Bar" meaning Washington State University was featured.

The new place is "non-denominational" said Bauer except to feature local professional sports teams. He in fact plays snare for a certain local professional football team's drumline, who will be coming in to perform for the Grand Opening. They still have some inspections to get past, and have intended to get open sooner but are aiming now at next week for the soft open.
