After a few unexpected delays the companion to Locol Barley and Vine on 35th S.W. called Tap Station will open Nov. 21. at 7900 35th S.W.

The business took over the space formerly occupied by Sharon's Westwood Florist and will begin operations at 11am pouring beer to go in growlers. The owners Kyle Duce, and Charlie Worden remade the interior to be rustic but warm and comfortable with leather chairs and soft lighting, plus the use of primarily recycled wood to give it a northwest feel.

Worden and Ian Joyce, who will both serve at Locol and Tap Station have selected 8 beers to be on tap. These beers will be sold via growlers (the normal size is 64 ounces) which once you pay for, you then later exchange. The cost of a growler fill will be $10-$20 for the growler, and $10 for the beer. Prices will vary based on seasonal or import varieties. "It will be closer to the $13 dollar range," said Worden.

They will start with 50 beers in bottles, gradually adding to the variety until they regularly have around 150. The concentration will be on northwest beers but some will be from around the world. "We'll have a lot german beers or beers of that style," said Joyce.

The original plan, previously publicized was to sell wine on tap as well but the Washington State Liquor Control Board said that was not permitted so that meant space intended for that will go now to an expanded beer selection. " We will still sell wine in bottles and will alternate weekends with beer and wine tastings, so it's all good," said Worden.

Duce, who retains ownership in Locol and developed the Tap Station concept with Worden, now lives in Colorado but keeps an eye on the operations and visits Seattle to keep his personal hand in operations.

Tap Station will also offer beer themed merchandise, gourmet salts and rubs, and other to go foods primarily from local suppliers. Coming soon they will feature custom branded growlers and glassware.

You will seen a change in signage as well since the Westwood Florist sign will be removed and a large logo sign will go up on the north exterior wall for Tap Station.

They plan to be open 7 days a week, 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday.
