SLIDESHOW: Despite loss to Rainier Beach, Seahawks can claim a kind of victory

Seahawks can claim moral victory in 103-52 loss to Nationally Ranked Rainier Beach Vikings.
The Seahawks may be celebrating tonight.
The unbeaten Rainier Beach Vikings travelled to West Seattle to take on the winless Chief Sealth Seahawks friday night. The Vikings, ranked number 2 nationally by MaxPreps, handed the Seahawks a 100-28 clubbing the last time they met. The Seahawks, with nothing to lose, came in looking intent to prove they could play on the same court as one of the best teams in the nation. In spite of the score they proved tonight they have huge heart and nearly doubled their output from the last game with Rainier Beach.
The Vikings jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter, setting the tone of the game with fast breaks, crisp passes and sheer athleticism. The Seahawks answered, pulling within 6 at 14-8. The crowd engaged and went 12th man when the Seahawks Weston Reed pinned a Viking shot on the glass. It was subtle, but the Vikings looked surprised at the energy of the Seahawks and their ability to get into the paint.
In the second quarter, the Vikings brought full court pressure and went up 33-15. The crowd engaged again when Chief Sealth's Khaleef Griffin drove the lane and sank an around the world layup.
At the end of the half, both teams had their hands on their hips and Rainier Beach was up 57-29.
The squads came out sluggish in the third quarter, then Viking point guard David Crisp sank one of his four 3 pointers on the night and set up a 19-5 run putting the Vikings up 83-38 at the end of 3.
Neither team looking at the scoreboard, the 4th quarter was an all-out race. Chief Sealth, looking tired, lost some of their accuracy. The Vikings, playing full court press to the final buzzer, weren't faring much better. The Seahawks held their own in the 4th quarter, scoring 14 to Rainier Beach's 20 points.
The final score was Rainier Beach 103, Chief Sealth 52.
For the Seahawks, Khaleef Griffin was the high scorer with 21 points.
Rainier Beach's Shaqquan Aaron led all scorers with 25 points. Viking David Crisp scored 20 including 4 3-pointers, and Viking Naim Ladd scored 15 including 3 3-pointers.
Chief Sealth takes on West Seattle at home on Wedneday, Jan 29th.
