West Seattle 34, Eastside Cath. 33
West Seattle stayed alive in the Sea-King District tournament with a one-point win over Eastside Catholic in low-scoring action Saturday.
Lydia Giomi led the Wildcats to victory with 15 points.
That got the Wildcats past the loser-out first round and into the double-elimination portion of the tournament.
Next up for the victorious West Seattle squad is a 3 p.m. meeting with Mercer Island at Ingraham High School on Tuesday.
Tuesday's winner plays again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bellevue Community College and the loser plays at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Bellevue Community College.
Shorewood Chr. 47, Grace Acad. 38
Shorewood Christian of West Seattle won its first game of the 1B girls district tournament Saturday, dealing Grace Academy a 47-38 defeat.
Shorewood Christian will visit the Muckleshoot Tribal School for a 6 p.m. playoff game Tuesday.
Boys basketball
Seattle Prep 63, West Seattle 59
West Seattle's season ended with a four-point loss at Seattle Prep on Saturday.
Ruslan Burduzha led the Wildcats with 21 points and Malachi Cain added 11.
Seattle Luth. 86, Orcas Island 55
Seattle Lutheran advanced to play a 7 p.m. 2B district game at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Auburn Adventist with Saturday's decisive victory over Orcas Island.
Grant Doerr paced the Saints with 17 points as Josh Meyer swished in 16, Cody Jones 15 and Roberto Duenaz 10.
Shorewood Christian
Next up for Shorewood Christian of West Seattle is a 6:30 p.m. 1B district game against Grace Academy at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines on Tuesday.
Wrestling
State Regionals
One wrestler each from Chief Sealth and West Seattle has survived to go to this Friday and Saturday's state Mat Classic 3A tournament at the Tacoma Dome.
Greg Tauti of Chief Sealth advances as the No. 4 seed out of Saturday's state regional held at Nathan Hale at 285 pounds, while West Seattle's Anthony Tran goes on as the No. 6 seed at 113 pounds.
State sessions run from 10-2 and 4-9:30 Friday with the third session from 10-2:15 p.m. Saturday. Finals start at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Gymnastics
State
No West Seattle or Chief Sealth broke into the top three out of Sea-King action this past Saturday to earn a state berth.
State runs this coming Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
The doors open at 8 a.m. Friday for 3A with the 4A starting at 5:20. Action continues Saturday with the doors opening at 9 a.m. and competition starting at 11:20.
Boys swimming
State
State action is being held this coming Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
The 4A finals open at 10 a.m. Saturday with the 2A starting at 2:30 p.m. and the 3A at 6:30 p.m.
Carlos Montemayor of Chief Sealth will be among the participants in the 3A.
