A rainy Tuesday afternoon gave way to a mild evening as the Southwest Athletic Complex played host to the second day of the Sea-King boy’s and girl’s 3A and 2B district championship track and field meet.
After several area athletes took part in an afternoon of intensive competition during Wednesday’s preliminary round, only one, Asaa Kaba of Chief Sealth was able to advance to Friday’s District Championships.
The sophomore was hoping to earn a spot in the 3A State Championship meet taking place at Mt. Tahoma high school in Tacoma, which will be held May 29-31st
Her finals time of 13.52 was good for 8th place but still left her .49 seconds off of her finishing time from Wedesday.
The Seahawks’s Brady Crane took 5th place in Wednesday’s district championship round of the triple jump and has thereby qualified for a spot in Tacoma.
Crane came in with a showing of 41 feet, 11.5 inches, besting out seven other competitors including fellow Seahawk Ronnie Parker.
