SLIDESHOW: Emergency fire preparedness can save your life; Demonstration proves how easy they can start
Thu, 05/29/2014
The first of three emergency preparedness demonstrations was presented at the Seattle Fire Department’s Joint Training Facility, 9401 Myers Way S. in West Seattle on May 29.
Seattle Fire officials demonstrated how quickly a kitchen fire can erupt and the proper actions to take in response. This presentation was designed to show real-world applications of emergency preparedness and response.
These demonstrations lead to the signature event for the Red Cross Safe in the Sound campaign, a multi-agency exhibit called the “Passport to Preparedness” which is taking place June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Redondo Fred Meyer, 25250 Pacific Hwy S., Kent, 98032. Open to the public, this event will be family friendly with exhibits and education from the Red Cross, Puget Sound Energy, PEMCO, the Kent Fire Department, the Seattle Sounders and Disney. Free emergency preparedness starter kits will be given to the first 2,000 people to complete the educational Passport to Preparedness Challenge.
