Music artist Macklemore made a surprise appearance at West Seattle's Roxhill Elementary School today to introduce the Buddy Bench, a bench where kids can go if they feel lonely or in need of a friend.
One of the biggest stars in music today, Macklemore, paid a surprise visit to Roxhill Elementary School on May 29 in support of the Youth Ambassadors. The program, that began in 2007 with the visit of the Dalai Lama, has long history with Macklemore.
His visit to Roxhill was to introduce the "Buddy Bench" an actual bench that will be installed at Roxhill that represents a place for those who are lonely to find a friend. Youth Ambassadors at Roxhill paired up 5th Grade students with 3rd Grade students to teach them compassion, kindness and tolerance.
Macklemore, with the help of several students demonstrated how the bench might work if someone felt lonely or in need of a friend. Then it was time for pictures and a off to the gym where he answered questions from the Ambassdors about his life, and much more.
