REMINDER: NW Hope and Healing Alki Beach 5k Walk/Run is coming up Aug. 24
Mon, 08/11/2014
The 12th annual Northwest Hope and Healing Alki Beach 5k Walk/Run is set for Aug. 24. Participants can join Warrior Marathon Runner Carol Dellinger -- and hundreds of her fellow cancer survivors of the event.
Dellinger is a 4 year breast cancer survivor and finisher of 278 marathons, 44 of those since her breast cancer diagnosis. Dellinger invites other warrior walkers and runners -- cancer survivors, those still fighting it, and their supporters alike -- to join her.
ALL the money raised from the event stays in the Seattle area to help local women get through breast cancer.
The 3.1 mile walk and run starts and finishes at the Alki Beach Bathhouse (2700 Alki Ave S.W., Seattle). Preregistration is $35, $40 the day of the event. The race begins at 9am.
They encourage all participants to meet a $100 minimum fundraising goal. Although fundraising is not required NWHH notes that $25 provides a Healing Basket, $50 buys groceries, $100 keeps the lights on and the phone connected, $250 ensures childcare during treatment and recovery, $500 helps prevent an eviction. NWHH is a volunteer non-profit organization. Donations go to help women directly.
If you haven’t already, register today and join breast cancer survivors, friends, families and coworkers at our annual Alki Beach 5k Walk & Run. Visit the Alki Beach 5k site to learn more and to register for this year’s event!
If you can't participate, NWHH urges you to consider a donation in any amount here.
