Cross country
State meet
State cross country action for all classifications took place at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco this past Saturday.
Marques Chacon of Evergreen emerged as the top local finisher, taking ninth place in the Class 2A boys race with a time of 15 minutes, 50.38 seconds over the 5-Kilometer course.
Twin brother Matthew Chacon came in 14th in the same race with a 16:15.02 effort and Kevin Herbruger of Highline placed 90th in 17:38.17.
Seattle Christian came in 10th as a team in the 1A boys competition with 267 points and the Warrior girls team finished 16th with a 384 score.
Tyler Riddings placed 19th among team competitors and 26th overall in 17:00.93, followed by teammates Brandon Seeger (51st overall in 17:27.67), William Kluck (95, 18:21.67), Andrew Neumann (97, 18:24.40), Jorren Mills (119, 18:51.62), Mario Simmons (122, 18:54.42) and Mikhail Hemmerling (134, 19:40.41).
Rachelle Meyers was the top SCS girls finisher in 49th among team competitors and 64th overall with a time of 21:27.89.
Gabby Watson was 87th overall in 22:03.88, followed by teammates Annika Mayes (116, 23:30.43), Jessalyn Henry (118, 23:43.84), Stephanie Lindblom (120, 24:01.79), Rachel Simmons (135, 27:54.52) and Naomi Klimek (136, 29:44.77).
Austin Regier of Mount Rainier came in 89th in the 4A boys race in 16:51.05 and Lily Grassley of Kennedy Catholic placed 99th in the 3A girls race in 20:56.64.
Alexis Sata of Tyee was 101st in the 2A girls race in 21:30.09 and Michael Olson of Shorewood Christian of West Seattle was 125th in the 1B/2B boys race in 20:42.43.

Central Kitsap 1, Kennedy 0
Kennedy Catholic finished fifth in the West Central District tournament with Saturday's loss to the Olympic League champions.
The Lancers will open state action at Sea-King No. 1 Bellevue Tuesday or Wednesday.
JFK finished as the Seamount League champions, then lost their WCD opener at the home of Greater St. Helens champion Columbia River on Thursday and lost, 2-0.

Football
Oak Harbor 34, Kennedy 14
Previously undefeated Seamount League champion Kennedy Catholic took a loss at Oak Harbor in the first round of the state Class 3A playoffs Friday.
Olympic 47, Foster 6
Foster also went on the road to open the state football playoffs Friday and absorbed a loss. The Bulldogs entered the game played in Silverdale as the No. 2 Class 2A team from the Seamount League.
Thursday, Nov. 6
Rogers 35, Mt. Rainier 34
Mount Rainier came up one point shy in a battle of teams with the nickname Rams from the South Puget Sound League last Thursday.
The game went into two overtimes of a Kansas Tiebreaker, with the Rams missing a two-point attempt at the end that would have won it.
