The 34th District Democrats held their “reorganization” meeting Wed. night, where all positions and appointments were refilled, something the organization does every two years. All of the nominees were nearly unanimously approved by PCOs. Most of the positions were filled by incumbents, many of whom had held position the position for multiple years. 42 PCOs attended the meeting.

The nomination and subsequent approval of district chair, Marcee Stone-Vekich was up first.
“Thank you to everyone who helped us get this going,” she said. "It was hard and tedious but it was also a lot of fun. I’d really appreciate your vote.”
The district then proceeded to approve Stone-Vekich as chair.
Ted Barker was nominated and approved for first vice chair of the district.
“I really enjoyed representing this district,” Barker said. “I will enjoy continuing to work over the next two years.”
Carol Frillman was nominated and approved for second vice chair.
“I am excited to help the 34th district move on forward,” she said.
The floor was then open for nomination and approving of Lisa Plymate for state committeewoman position.
“I liked being your state committee councilwoman for the past two years,” Plymate said. "The position is really special and it will be so important to get everyone motivated on all levels.”
Chris Porter was nominated and approved for state committeeman.
“Today I was listening to a story on NPR about Barbara Boxer and how she wasn’t going to run,” he said. “it occurred to me that my [34th journey was initiated by strong women.”
Martha Koester was nominated and approved for King County committeewoman.
Steven Butts was nominated and approved for King County committeeman.
The King County committeeman alternate position was filled by Chris Langeler, a new resident of 34th LD. “I’ve been encouraged by all of you to jump into it,” he said.
The meeting continued with filling secretary, treasurer and appointment of committee chairs. Kathryn Sprigg was approved for secretary. Karen Chilcutt was approved for treasurer. Michael Parker was approved for communications chair.

New PCOs were “grilled” with fun-loving, sometimes silly questions by the chair such as “are you a Democrat?” which produced laughter.
A participant brought up a future bond and asked members to support the bond, which they did. The election is Feb. 10.
King County Executive Dow Constantine said he’s eager to help the district create a fundraising plan for the upcoming year.
Dow Constantine carried his eight-month-old baby, Sabrina to the front of the room to say hi. In reference to Stone-Vekich's question “are you a Democrat?” Constantine said that his daughter will be free to make her own decisions about political preference but she will be highly encouraged to be a Democrat.
