Boys wrestling
Chief Sealth Regional
Four wrestlers from West Seattle High School and three from host Chief
Sealth qualified for this coming weekend's state competition at the
Tacoma Dome out of regional action Saturday.
Daron Camacho of Chief Sealth led the way out of the local athletes,
capturing first place at 195 pounds by way of a pin of Joey Richards
of O'Dea in 1 minute, 25 seconds.
Teammate Anthony Chiles qualified third at 182 pounds and Nicholas
Outley of West Seattle took fourth at 138.
Ryan Davis of Chief Sealth finished fifth at 132 pounds, Miguel
Carvantes of West Seattle fifth at 160, James Applewhite of West
Seattle sixth at 182 and Anthony Tran of West Seattle sixth at 120.
Marysville-Pilchuck Regional
Kennedy Catholic qualified two athletes for state out of the Class 3A
Marysville-Pilchuck regional Saturday.
Sebastian Ferraro captured third place at 220 pounds for the Lancers
and Bowen McConville qualified fifth at 182.
River Ridge Regional
Highline captured four state berths and Foster and Evergreen landed
one apiece out of the 2A regional held at River Ridge High School on
Saturday.
Zach Edson of Highline won the 120-pound title, defeating Cale
Woyvodich of Foster by a 4-2 score in the championship match.
Woyvodich qualified second.
Jimmy Matta of Highline took third place at 152 pounds and teammate
Brian Womac placed third at 220.
Justin Herberger of Highline finished fourth at 160 and Daniel Huynh
of Evergreen qualified fifth at 152.
Girls wrestling
Yelm Regional
Three area girls qualified for Friday and Saturday's state tournament
that will also be held in the Tacoma Dome out of regional action held
in Yelm this past Saturday.
Lisa Nguyen of Evergreen placed second at 100 pounds and teammate
Cecilia Vu was second at 105.
Sophia Munoz of Highline qualified third at 235 pounds in the combined
classification competition.
Girls basketball
Shoreline Chr. 43, Seattle Lutheran 26
Seattle Lutheran's season ended with Saturday's Sea-Tac B League
playoff loss to Shoreline Christian.
Boys basketball
North Kitsap 64, Evergreen 41
North Kitsap knocked Evergreen out of the 2A West Central District
tournament Saturday at Curtis High School.
Olympic 72, Foster 41
Foster also played at Curtis on Saturday and suffered a season-ending loss.
Foss 64, Kennedy 60
The Lancers took a second round loss to Foss by four points Saturday
and now must play a loser-out game against North Thurston at 7:45 p.m.
Tuesday at Rogers High School in Puyallup.
A win would advance JFK into a 6 p.m. Thursday game at Clover Park
High School in Lakewood.

Girls basketball
Sequim 40, Evergreen 23
Evergreen's season ended with Friday's loss at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma.
Kingston 39, Foster 27
Foster's season also came to a conclusion with a Friday loss in the 2A
West Central District tournament at Bellarmine.
SCS 53, Klahowya 36
Seattle Christian stayed alive with Friday's road win at Klahowya.
Thursday, Feb. 12
Boys basketball
Shorewood Chr. 65, Seattle Luth. 63
Both teams qualified for the Class B West Central District tournament
out of Thursday's game.
Seattle Lutheran is hosting a double-header Tuesday involving both.
Shorewood Christian plays Northwest Yeshiva in a 5 p.m. game and
Seattle Lutheran plays Providence Classical Christian at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams will play again this Thursday win or lose.
Earlier in the Sea-Tac B League tournament, Shorewood Christian
defeated Northwest Yeshiva by a 64-63 score and Seattle Lutheran was a
56-48 winner over Mount Rainier Lutheran.
Sammamish 78, Foster 25
Foster was dealt out of the 2A West Central District tournament with
Thursday's loss at Sammamish.
Girls basketball
Seattle Luth. 46, Muckleshoot Tribal 40
Seattle Lutheran scored a victory over the Muckleshoot Tribal School
on Thursday after opening the tournament with a 39-38 win over
Quilcene.
Shorewood Christian lost to Muckleshoot Tribal, 46-39, to be
eliminated in its opener.

Foster lost big to Liberty in its tournament opener Wednesday.
