High schools
Fastpitch
West Seattle plays in the Class 3A girls fastpitch softball tournament this coming Friday and Saturday at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.
The Wildcats open at 9 a.m. Friday against North Central of Spokane, then play again at 4 p.m. if they win or 2 p.m. if they lose.
The championship is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Seattle Christian, meanwhile, is playing the same days in the state Class 1A tournament at the Columbia Playfield in Richland.
The Warriors face a 10 a.m. opener against South Whidbey.
Track and field
The state Class 4A, 3A and 2A meet takes place Thursday through Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Action starts at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, with Friday event start times running from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Saturday start times from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Tennis
The state Class 3A tournament runs Friday and Saturday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle, while the 3A tournament is in Kennewick and the 4A in Richland.
Semipro
Highline Bears
The semiprofessional baseball Highline Bears will open their inaugural season Saturday, taking on the Snoqualmie Hurricanes in a 7 p.m. game at Steve Cox Memorial Park in White Center.
They will be there for a 10 a.m. double-header against the Northwest Honkers Sunday before visiting the Seattle Studs for 5:30 p.m. action at the University of Puget Sound Tuesday.
Bears home tickets are $3 each and free for ages 12 and under.
Pros
Mariners
Seattle wraps up a three-game series in Tampa Bay Wednesday with a 10:10 a.m. game before coming home to Safeco Field to play the Cleveland Indians.
That series starts with a 7:10 p.m. game Thursday, followed by action at the same time Friday and Saturday and by a 1:10 p.m. game Sunday.
The New York Yankees are in town for 7:10 p.m. games Monday and Tuesday.
Mariners games can be seen on ROOT Sports cable television.
Sounders
Seattle is at home at CenturyLink Field for a 7 p.m. game against the Colorado Rapids Wednesday before the New York Red Bulls come to town at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Wednesday's game will be carried on JOEtv and Saturday's on ESPN 2.
Rainiers
Tacoma is in Omaha for 4:35 p.m. games Wednesday and Thursday before coming home to Cheney Stadium to play Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Friday, 5:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:35 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
New Orleans invades at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
