Roy Alin moved on to his next epic adventure on May 1, 2015. He was born February 25, 1932 in Seattle, WA to Swedish-born parents, Ole and Linnea Alin.
Roy graduated from Seattle University with a bachelor degree in Education, made possible by the GI Bill. He went on to get a Master's degree with honors in Education at University of Washington. With a passion for teaching, he became an outstanding educator, receiving many awards and letters from Administrations, National English Council and students.
When he was not teaching, one could always find him reading or working on crossword puzzles. Wood working was one of his many talents.
Roy retired from teaching after 34 (?) years. Denny Middle School was the last place he taught before retiring in 1995.
Always proud of his kids, Dave Alin, Casey Alin (Chris), Julie Perreault (Doug), Roy’s grandchildren, Rainor and Matteus, were his pride and joy.
Renee Belfor was Roy’s partner for twenty-eight years. They met at a Woodland Park Zoo concert. Together they enjoyed traveling (particularly to Sweden to visit his relatives) and playing with their yellow lab, Peet.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015, 10 a.m., at the Swedish Club. Remembrances in Roy’s name may be made to the Library Foundation, The Animal Shelter or Oxfam.
Only Far knows where this Viking's next journey will take him......and he's smiling.
