Thief stopped at West Seattle Summerfest

A 20-year-old man grabbed an envelope full of cash from a vendor booth at the West Seattle Summerfest Sunday but he was quickly pursued by booth employees and the West Seattle Herald's own David Rosen.
Officers were working an emphasis patrol at noon near California Ave SW and SW Alaska St when witnesses reported a fight down the street.
Police found two people holding the suspect on the ground, and learned the suspect had just stolen $4500 in cash from the Deano’s Grill booth.
The owner of the booth told officers he had handed one of his cashiers an envelope full of cash for her register, when the suspect reached over the counter, grabbed the envelope from the cashier, and fled.
As the suspect ran, the booth owner followed after him, recruiting several others including Rosen. They tackled the suspect and held him down until officers arrived.
Police arrested the 20-year-old man and booked him into King County Jail for robbery.
