In a press release Equity Residential announced that it has executed retail leases with Bishops Barbershop and Kukai Ramen & Izakaya at Junction 47, the company’s mixed-use apartment complex located in West Seattle at 4706 California Ave. SW. The two regionally owned stores will open next year. Junction 47, which welcomed its first residents in June, includes 206 apartments and a total of 19,814 square feet of street-level retail.
Bishops Barbershop, a locally operated full-service barbershop that serves Generation X, Y and Z customers, will occupy 2,084 square feet on the ground floor of Junction 47’s east building, along 42nd Ave. SW. The company’s owner, Leo Rivera, says Bishops offers “high-end salon quality at affordable prices in a casual, fun environment that includes edgy artwork and music, and trend-setting stylists.” Bishops serves walk-in customers only, and offers an extensive a-la-carte menu of hair-care services.
Kukai Ramen, which has taken 2,715 square feet of space directly north of Bishops, at the corner of SW Alaska St. and 42nd Ave. SW, serves traditional Japanese ramen to customers throughout the Northwest and beyond. The restaurant group has locations in Capitol Hill, Northgate, Bellevue and Beaverton, Ore., in addition to Japan and Taiwan. The restaurant’s philosophy is to “serve the most traditional, authentic and delicious Japanese ramen without having to fly to Japan.”
“Bishops and Kukai Ramen continue our commitment to bringing to West Seattle an exciting blend of retail offerings at the Junction 47 complex. These are Northwest-based retailers that appreciate the history and culture of the West Seattle Junction. We know they’ll be highly successful at this location,” said Bradley Karvasek, First Vice President of Development at Equity Residential.
In June, Equity Residential announced a 4,200-square-foot lease at Junction 47 to The Lodge, a family owned, locally based restaurant known for its wide selection of craft beers and innovative American-style menu. Led by executive chef and comfort food extraordinaire Oscar Garcia, the restaurant plans to open early next year. Equity is currently in leasing discussions with a number of other preferred retailers for its additional ground-floor space at Junction 47.
Junction 47’s apartments, currently 50% leased, feature 9-foot ceilings, Energy Star appliances, a gym, bike storage and repair areas, a pet wash, and a rooftop deck and sky lounge, to name just a few high-demand urban-lifestyle amenities. Weber Thompson was the project’s architect, and Andersen Construction was Junction 47’s general contractor.
Equity Residential was represented by Colliers International brokers Jason Miller and Damian Sevilla on the Bishops Barbershop and Kukai Ramen & Izakaya leases. More information on Junction 47 retail space is available by calling 206-223-1431.
