Murray Basin CSO Update: Work continues
Thu, 03/10/2016
information from King County
King County’s contractor for the Murray Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Project continues to make progress on the facility building. Crews are now conducting mechanical and electrical work inside the facility and have started to backfill soil behind the building. The soil will be used to bury the soil nail wall that was placed in 2014 to stabilize the hillside and control erosion during construction.
Backfilling behind the facility building is expected to take approximately one month to complete. Crews will use an excavator to place soil behind the building from Lincoln Park Way S.W. Parking restrictions and intermittent lane and sidewalk closures are expected while backfilling is underway. Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic during lane closures.
Utility work under Beach Dr. S.W. is ongoing and expected to continue through spring 2016. Installation of the 5-foot-wide sewer pipe between the underground storage tank and the Murray Pump Station is nearing completion and additional, smaller utilities will soon be placed under Beach Dr. S.W. Continued noise and vibration from shoring installation is expected as utility work progresses, particularly as the remaining 5-foot sewer pipe is placed.
Thank you for your continued patience during construction. The project is on schedule to be complete by the end of 2016. Additional information about what to expect this summer and fall will be coming soon in our spring newsletter. Please contact the project hotline at 206-205-9186 with any questions or concerns.
