Walking away from attempted robbery
Police responded to a call at 11:15 p.m. on Fri., March 25 from a pedestrian walking westbound on Trenton Street The victim was found near the intersection of 28th Avenue S.W.
The victim reported that while walking on the 8800 block of Delridge Way S.W., in the alley to the east of the roadway, two Latino males approached him, demanding him to drop everything.
One suspect was in his 20s, about 5’10” with a stocky build, wearing a Seattle Mariners hat and blue jeans and armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. The second suspect was about the same age and height, also wearing jeans but had a thin build.
The first suspect pointed the handgun to the victim’s head. Still, the victim refused to give up his belongings.
The suspect kicked the victim in the right calf and tried to force him to the ground, but he was able to escape and started walking away on S.W. Trenton Street, where he found and picked up a steel pipe and carried it for protection along the way.
Nothing was stolen, and the victim was not injured. The victim refused a ride home from police on the scene— and officers checked the area for suspects but came up empty-handed.
Love that’s hard to stomach
A Burien resident shot her boyfriend in the stomach on Thurs., March 17. After the crime, the 36-year-old ran to her neighbor’s house and asked them to call police.
Police arrived at the scene, on the 12800 block of Occidental Avenue S., around 10 p.m. After talking to the woman, they found her boyfriend in a nearby house suffering from the gunshot wound and he was transported to Harborview Hospital. While the injuries were serious, he was expected to survive.
Officers are interviewing the 36-year-old woman to see what events led up to the shooting. They will then make a booking decision. There is no information on the male that was shot at this time.
Teen-on-Teen Violence
Two teen robbers were arrested on Tues., March 15, putting an end to a day-long police search.
The youths were first reported for holding up a middle-school student at knifepoint at about 7:30 a.m. that morning, around the 2100 block of S.W. Thistle Street.
One suspect pulled out the knife, demanding money from the victim and forcing him to empty out his backpack.
The two suspects fled with the student’s cell phone, and the victim ran to school and contacted staff member, who called 911. The victim described the suspects to officers, saying one was a 15-year-old white male, 5’7”, wearing tan cargo shorts, a green hooded jacket and white shoes and the other, a Hispanic male, the same age, 5’5”, wearing a black hooded jacket and white shoes.
Officers searched for the suspects but were unable to find them at first.
Then, the officers received a call from a second victim at 3:30 p.m. He was walking home from high school, when two teens matching the earlier the description, approached him and pulled out a knife.
The victim refused and the suspects ran away empty-handed.
Officers spotted the suspects in the 8600 block of 16 Avenue S.W. A search revealed the stolen cell phone, as well as the knife used in both robberies.
Officers booked the two teens into the King County Youth Services Center for investigation of robbery, and Southwest precinct detectives will continue to investigate this case.
