UPDATE:
Tracy Dart, the West Seattle woman who admitted faking cancer for nearly a decade, has died. Circumstances surrounding her death are not clear but sources close to the matter previously said she was in home hospice care at her family's home.

A close friend of Dart's who asked not to be identified said, "Super sad, none of us ever even got to talk to her again, she never even tried... to repair in anyway. I guess, at least she is out of pain now." The source said a statement of some kind was expected from the Dart family.

The sources, who asked not to be identified said:

" I can tell you 1st hand that the situation with Tracy Dart is serious, her health is failing due to medical issues not related to cancer , and her family would probably like some privacy. I would also expect some sort of announcement from the family in the near future."

And from a second source, "One of the Team Tracy members informed me of this a few days ago. As you may know, a different medical issue is what triggered the discovery of the faked cancer; well apparently the extensive damage done to her liver and kidneys due to excessive drinking over her long term charade have taken their toll on her body. Supposedly, dialysis and the like are options for her, but she has opted to not to go through them and instead is preparing for what she considers the inevitable."

The Seattle Police investigation into Dart's case is still active and in fact would continue even in the event of her death. Once facts are clear, Dart's estate could still be liable for damages.
