Thieves arrested while exiting 7-11
Officers responded to a call at 11:40 p.m. on Tues., June 21 reporting a car prowl near Bonair Drive S.W. and Alki Avenue S.W.
The victim explained that he and his friends had returned to their parked vehicle and found the driver’s side window was broken. A bystander pointed out the suspects, who were driving by in a white Ford pick up truck and flashed handguns. The truck then made a U-turn and came back toward the group, with the two suspects shouting threats, before they drove off.
As the officers were processing the scene, they received another report that two men in a white Ford truck had just brandished golf clubs near S.W. Charlestown and 50th Avenue S.W. The officers pursued the new call in an attempt to locate the suspects.
Police found the truck parked at a 7-11 on the 3800 block of California Avenue S.W. and then saw the two suspects, who turned out to be ages 19 and 25, walking out of the store. The 19-year-old was carrying a handgun in his front pocket, and officers also found a handgun, golf club and metal pipes inside the pickup.
Both suspects were arrested and booked into the King County Jail for felony harassment and theft. The 25-year-old, who is a convicted felon, was also booked for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Family assaulted and robbed while sleeping in a car
Police arrived at the scene of a robbery near the 9600 block of 20th Avenue S.W. around 1:30 a.m. on Mon., June 20 to find three individuals inside a parked car.
The driver said that she and her family live in the car and they were parked in a church parking lot sleeping when someone shattered the driver’s door window. Four men were standing outside the driver’s side of the vehicle and another two men were on the passenger side.
The man who broke the window pointed a handgun at the woman, pulled her from the driver’s seat, yelled at her and then punched her in the face.
The victim described the men as heavy set, Samoan or Hispanic and in their 20s, all wearing baggy blue pants and tennis shoes and riding BMX-style bicycles.
The victim’s husband was in the front passenger seat and the suspects ordered him at gunpoint to get out of the vehicle.
The couple’s son was in the back seat of the car and was also told to get out. The suspects kicked the son and threw him to the ground, then took his wallet, which contained his state identification card, social security card and credit cards.
Officers took photos of the injuries and the damage to the vehicle but could not find any suspects.
