US Navy Petty Officer Garrett Rochon and his crewmates aboard the USS Nimitz are seeking your help to collect a total of 200 fully stocked backpacks to be given to Denny International Middle School on Sept. 1 at 6:30pm. If you can help, get in touch with Garrett.
A West Seattlite and US Navy man is looking for help from the community.
Petty Officer First Class Garrett A. Rochon and his diesel engine crew aboard the USS Nimitz are trying to collect as many backpacks filled with school supplies as possible for Denny International Middle School.
He and his division plan to personally hand them out at 6th grade orientation Sept 1 at 6:30pm. at the school.
The basics in a fully stocked backpack would be
- 12 No. 2 pencils
- 2 Glue Sticks
- 2 large pink erasers
- 1 box of tissues
- 8 broad tip markers
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 1 box of 12 colored pencils
- 1 bottle of white glue
plus
- 1 1" 3 ring binder
- 1 pack of blue pens
Rochon attended Denny International Middle School and Chief Sealth International High School and considers this his home. He comes home to West Seattle weekly. Rochon said, " Why not give back to the community that helped mold me into the man I am today? To me it is a honor and the least I can do with the help of my shipmates."
