Frances Chloe Downes Sacks, aged 99, died peacefully on January 14, 2017, one month before her 100th birthday, in her assisted living apartment in Grapevine, TX.
Frances was born February 17, 1917 at Graceville, MN.
Frances moved to Seattle at the age of 17, after completing high school. She married Moe Sacks and they spent their married life together in West Seattle. Frances worked for Boeing on their aircraft manufacturing lines during WWII. Following the war, she worked in the Dietary Department at Swedish Hospital and retired after 25 years.
After retiring, Frances and Moe enjoyed traveling to Asia, Europe, Egypt and the Holy Land. She also participated in water aerobics at the West Seattle Family YMCA, where she made many wonderful and cherished friends.
She loved West Seattle and her neighbors, and especially enjoyed the stories and adventures of the younger ones. If she wasn’t walking or down on her knees, scrubbing her kitchen floor, Frances could usually be found sitting on her porch, waiting for another talkative person to walk by and visit with her.
Frances is survived by her daughters Sandra Tong (Dick), Las Vegas, NV and Kathy Morin (Al), North Richland Hills, TX and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Susan Downes, and her siblings, Clarence, John and Kate. In keeping with her wishes, there will not be a funeral or memorial service.
