Man arrested for firing gun in park

Around 11:30 p.m. on Wed., May 10, Officer Stephanie Hemsley was patrolling near Roxhill Park, near 29th Avenue S.W. and S.W. Barton Street, when she heard gunshots. She searched the area—and soon saw a couple running towards a parked gray Pontiac. Officers stopped the vehicle, discovered a handgun sitting on the floor under the driver’s seat and found bullets in the man’s pocket. The 25-year old man admitted to firing multiple rounds inside the park, and he was booked into King County Jail for discharging a weapon within city limits and for a concealed weapons violation. Officers released the woman from the scene, since she had not discharge the firearm.

Teens throw rocks at couple on S.W. Adams Street

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2800 block of S.W. Adams St. after receiving a report of a disturbance around 6:30 p.m. on Sat., May 6. The complainant was a woman who had just returned home with her boyfriend when a group of teenagers walked by. There were three females in the group who rushed toward the woman and her dogs. The woman told them to leave her dogs alone, but the teens remained aggressive. The woman’s boyfriend got involved and the teens threw rocks at him. He did not get hit by the rocks but still wanted to document the incident and file a report with police.

Assault on Alki

When officers arrived on the scene of an assault, near the intersection of 59 Ave SW and Alki Ave SW around 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, they found a victim with swollen lips, a small cut and blood coming from his mouth onto his cheeks. His speech was slurred and he had trouble standing. The man was drinking with his friends, when four unidentified males walked by them on the beach. The same group returned later, driving a black Pontiac sedan. The victim said they punched and kicked him in the head multiple times. He was with two friends, who witnessed the event but did not intervene with the assault. One friend had bruises on his arms and face. Neither wanted to make a statement. The story from the friends changed multiple times – from the description of the suspects to the description of their car – and differed from the account made by the victim. Officers searched the area for the suspects but were unable to find anyone.

Assault on 26 Ave SW

A women residing on the 4100 block of 26 Ave SW was walking into her home around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, when she saw two men nearby taking photos with their phones of her house. Later, when she took her trashcan outside, the men were still there. She asked them what they were doing, and they yelled at her to leave them alone. The woman’s husband came outside to see what was happening, and one of the men pulled out a handgun and started to wave it around. The suspects told the couple to go back inside the house. The two men pushed the woman’s husband to the ground and kicked his leg. The men eventually backed away. The woman thought the incident could have been related to a parking complaint she made earlier in the day, when she reported a vehicle blocking her driveway. Officers told the couple to call 911 if they saw the group again.
