Mon, 06/12/2017
Plan to attend the 12th annual Morgan Junction Community Festival produced by the Morgan Community Association (MoCA), which will be celebrated on June 17th, starting at 10 am and ending at 5 pm. This year’s festival will feature live music, kid activities, commercial vendor and community informational booths, and food carts. The festival takes place at Morgan Junction Park on California Avenue SW and in the parking lots behind local Morgan Junction businesses.
Kid Activities – Lots for the Kids at the Festival
Chief entertainment is The Bubbleman. He begins his always-pleasing wild and colorful show at 10:30 am in Morgan Junction Park.
The "Spatter of Morgan" will highlight the afternoon from 1 to 2 pm - this involves taking a turn shooting at a backdrop with a toy water gun filled with paint. Other activities, including several craft projects, a balloon twister artist, and face painters, start at 10 am and end at 3 pm.
The Seattle Police Department Mounted Patrol will be bringing their horses to visit the festival in the afternoon, targeting between 12:30 and 4:00. Seattle Police will be on hand with their vehicles at 10 am and a Seattle Fire Department ladder truck will arrive at 1 pm.
Live Music in the Park from 10 am to 5 pm
This year’s lineup is:
- Endolyne Children’s Choir, 10:00 to 10:30
- Soyaya, 11:15 - 12:30
- Gary Benson 12:30 to 1:45
- Brian and Janie Show 2:15 to 3:45
- Yesod 4:00 to 5:00
Festival Food in the Beveridge Place Pub parking lot: 10 am to 5 pm
The food vendors this year are “The Tamale Guy,” “Mini the Dough-Nut” “Das Brat Wagon,” and “Sweet Bumpas Ice Cream.” Seating will be provided in the parking lot near the vendors.
West Seattle Thriftway will be holding a fundraiser BBQ in front of the store to benefit the festival. This is much appreciated and is essential to festival funding. This year they will be grilling burgers and $7 will also get you a bag of chips and drink. Best deal around!
