Burglars flee when they realize home occupied
Officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of S.W. Spokane Street at 2:30 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 27 to investigate a burglary. A friend of the owner, who was housesitting the property, called to report the incident. She explained that she was in the shower when she heard loud knocking on the door. She thought it was a delivery and did not respond. Then she heard glass breaking. She said two men pushed the door to the bedroom open. When the suspects saw her, they fled, jumped into a SUV and headed east. Officers were not able to find fingerprints or evidence. They checked the area for the vehicle but were unsuccessful in locating it.
Burglary on S.W. College Street
Officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of S.W. College Street around 9 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 27 to investigate a burglary. The victim said the crime occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 8:50 p.m. He said that a suspect had entered his apartment and stolen a small safety deposit box. The victim was certain that he had locked the door, and said no one else had keys to the apartment. There was no evidence of forced entry into the building—and no latent prints were discovered.
Assault on S.W. Alaska
When officers arrived to investigate an assault in the 4200 block of S.W. Alaska Street around 4:15 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 23, they saw the victim sitting on a park bench holding his face. He was bleeding heavily from his nose, and his left eye was purple and swollen shit. There was also blood on the left side of his head. Seattle Fire Department arrived on the scene. The victim said there was a fight about a cigarette. A witness heard a disturbance outside and saw a man standing over the victim, punching him repeatedly in the head. The suspect then kicked him in the head and body. A group of suspects then fled. Other witnesses reported the same sequence of events. An anonymous caller tipped off police that the suspects had entered an apartment on 42nd Avenue S.W. Officers detained several suspects, and placed them under arrest. Seattle Fire Department said the victim may have broken ribs.
Construction site burglary
A project manager of a construction company called police around 7:11 a.m. on Thurs., Oct. 26. He said he left a site in the 4500 block of 41st Avenue S.W. secured around 7 p.m. the night before. When the crew returned in the morning, they discovered that the storage room had been broken into and several tools were missing. Crews had already begun working so officers were not able to search the site for evidence.
Home burglarized while family on a cruise
At 5 p.m. on Wed., Oct 25, officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of 46th Avenue S.W. A caller reported that the home of vacationing neighbors had broken glass at the back door. When officers arrived, they met with the caller who said he and his wife had been checking on the home when they discovered the broken window. The neighbors were on a cruise. Officers searched the home and found two bedrooms had been ransacked and a room in the basement was rifled through. The caller said two sets of car keys were missing from the dining table, but both cars remained in the driveway. Officers were able to find one fingerprint and submitted it to evidence.
