A woman living at 912 SW 318th Place contacted Federal Way PD to report mail theft from her address. She did not realize the mail was missing until a neighbor returned the open pieces she found near her home by Lakota Middle School. The neighbor recognized the address as being right next door. She returned an opened Crescent Jewelers bill.

A man at 1921 SW 322nd Place, #287 called 911 to report a Sony Playstation 2 and five games stolen from his residence. The man told officers he believed the items were stolen sometime between 8/15 and 8/31.

Crystal Spa owners yet to be officially charged in prostitution sting

Four people arrested August 24 by the King County Sheriff's vice squad have been released without being charged.

John Urguart, a spokesperson for the department, said the suspects were released because no charges had been filed against them within the required 72-hour period after arrest.

The suspects were arrested in a raid at the Crystal Spa, 29500 Pacific Highway South, on suspicion of being a front for prostitution.

Play laser Tag At DeVry Oct. 1

Got Aim? Battle for prizes and bragging rights at DeVry University's Laser Tag Competition.

Participants will be placed in teams for action-packed matches in the university'sparking garage, complete with obstacles. Must be at least 16 years old to participate. The Laser Tag Competition and lunch are free of charge. Prizes include video games and gift certificates. The event takes place Saturday, October 1, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to DeVry spokesman Jason Roth, "It's actually similar to the paintball competitions, but without the pain. In fact it's very technical.

New Teen Center gives youth a safe place to study, socialize

When the doors opened last Wednesday at Federal Way's new EX3 Ron Sandwith Teen Center, student Charmaine Monk finally has the hangout she and her friends have wanted for years.

The young woman, honored with the title of Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, stood at the podium during the center's grand opening and spoke with a hint of nervousness in her voice.

He gives only when it hurts

The response by the community to the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is nothing short of fabulous. Here in Federal Way, people drew together to express a true sense of community as they donated money and materials to aid the survivors.

Many people I've talked with have sent money to the Red Cross and United Way, World Vision and Mercy Corps. Several young people I have heard about have been inspired to go to the devastated area and help in any way they can. This attitude is very heartening.

STOUGARD

Earl S. Stougard, born June 10, 1919, passed into God's presence on Sept. 9, 2005. His wife Lois, whom he loved dearly, preceded him in death. They were married 64 years until her passing in November 2002.

Earl, a lifelong Seattle-area resident, was born north of Burien and lived in South Park, South Seattle and Kent.

During World War II, he served in the Philippines with the U.S. Army. His military and civilian training served him well as he excelled in mechanical and electrical skills. Earl worked at both Issacson and Jorgensen Steel companies.
