Last week my car was in the shop for a couple of days, so I decided to take the bus home. It takes an hour and a half to get home on the number 18 bus to downtown, followed by the number 36 bus making its way south on Third Avenue, through the Chinatown International District and onto Beacon Hill.
I boarded the number 18 on Northwest Market Street on Halloween. There was a woman with a pirate's hat.

In his four-year career at Ballard High, Zack Gussin has been the team's top cross country runner. Gussin competed in his last cross country race last Saturday in Pasco at the Class 4A State Meet, finishing in eighth place with a time of 16.06.
Gussin's rival from Skyline, Matt Frerker was .4 seconds ahead with a time of 16.02.

A great and blessed man gently slipped the bonds of earth and soared aloft on Nov. 1, 2005. He was known variously as "Phil," "dad," "pa-pa," "daddy-o" and "grampa" to the nine people he loved most.
Ida Wozny was born March 4, 1906 in O'Brien, Washington and died October 30, 2005. She grew up in Ballard, attended elementary school for seven years and Ballard High School for one year.
