Beavers seek top four finish

With eight games left in the season, the Ballard Beaver girls will make a run at the KingCo basketball playoffs for a second year, while battling injuries and learning how put opponents away in close games.

"We would like more w's (wins). We are playing tough teams," said Head Coach Karen Blair. Their record as of Jan. 12 is 2-3 league and 4-6 overall.

Ballard has been in most of the games they have lost. Against Inglemoor they closed the gap to six points in the final period before the Vikings ran away with the game 53-47.

Injuries have hurt the team's depth.

Coberly should not be working with our kids

The Seattle School District must fire Whittier Elementary School Principal, Alex Coberly.

Coberly has been on paid administrative leave since Dec. 7 after being caught exposing himself to two female drivers while driving on Aurora Avenue. Coberly has worked in the school district since 1998 and has been at Whittier as principal for the past five years.

It, according to police reports and Coberly's own admission, appears not to be an isolated incident.

Finding viaduct solution to benefit all

Seattle school parent and education activist

On Feb. 6, voters of Seattle will be asked by the Seattle School district to support our schools. Proposition 2 supports the operations of our district and is almost a quarter of our district's budget. It is vital to every single student in this district to pass this measure.

I wish it were as easy to throw my support to Proposition 1, the Building Excellence III (BEX) Capital Bond measure. This is the measure for school renovations, rebuilds and additions.

Electric car a pain

(In response to Scott Anthony's article "American Car Makers Failed Us,") I have an electric car called a 2002 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback.

While not intended to be so powered, it became apparent, after having it towed several times to the local dealer for inspection, repair and battery replacement, something was seriously wrong.

Provided a solar panel battery charger by the company (supposedly to se un Seattle sunshine and/or my garage), I was told to drive at least 30 miles per week-with gas at $3.50 per gallon-to keep the battery properly charged.
