Ann M. Garland

Ann Marie Garland, 73 of West Seattle died on January 12, 2007, in Las Vegas, NV, while visiting family for the holidays. She was planning on moving there in the spring time to live permanently with her daughter and son-in-law on their ranch. She lived in the Alki Beach area for approximately 50 years and was also a member of Holy Rosary Church.

"Annie' was loved by everyone. She was so full of caring and kindness.

Man ripped off by salesmen

Former salesmen at Huling Bros. Auto Center, one of West Seattle's largest businesses, were charged last week with breaking into a customer's apartment last summer, stealing $70,000 in cash and laundering the money to cover up the crime.

Documents filed by the King County Prosecuting Attorney claim a 60-year-old Delridge man, wearing clothes stained with his own excrement, walked into Huling Bros. dealership last July 21 with $30,000 cash in a plastic bag.

All five Scandinavian flags should be flown at various places along this "esplanade." A few volunteers dressed in Scandinavian attire could walk the streets during summer weather, to

opposes tunnel lite

We support the governor's position in going forward with the rebuild of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Building a new elevated structure will save the citizens of the Seattle area $3 billion. We believe the majority of the Seattle citizens oppose any tunnel.

The two lane tunnel (Tunnel Lite) will not have the same capacity as the present viaduct.

Coming of age stories are typically an exercise in sentimentality. They offer an airbrushed view of the first fumbling act of liberation into adulthood. But in truth the right of passage is a series of collisions-big and small-between fantasy and reality, between unformed judgment and unforgiving consequence.
