Decatur wins rematch

Redemption in the face of furious frustration rang in a victory Friday.

Mired in a two of 10 shooting night against a suffocating and extending 2-3 zone defense, Marcus Tibbs stepped up with an iron resolve to drive the No. 5 state ranked Decatur boys basketball team past crosstown rival and No.

The heart of the matter

If you did not know it, February was decreed "Heart Health Month" in 2004 by none other than the President of the United States, claiming in a press release then that "64 million Americans suffer from one or more forms of cardiovascular disease, including high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, and congenital heart defects."

School board made the right move

To the Editor:

Your paper's coverage proves the school board was right.

Seth Bynum's slanted piece entitled "Board silences global warming film," combined with Bill Johnson-Miles' nearly full-page letter to the editor which ended in a call to arms, clearly indicate the film is controversial.

Bottoms Up

In a Senior Night slam, Decatur 12th grader Devon Jones puts his Federal Way High School opponent, Darren Faber, into a move you'll likely see used more in the WWF than on the high school wrestling mat. Faber fought back, however, scoring six points on Jones. The Gator Jones won the match 16-6, but as consolation for his opponent, Faber was the only Federal Way wrestler in the first six matches not to get pinned. Photo by Seth Bynum.

Board lifts moratorium on global warming film

The Federal Way School Board announced last Tuesday at its twice-monthly meeting that district teachers can resume showing "An Inconvenient Truth," a film of slideshow findings on the topic of climate change and global warming.

The decision ends a 14-day moratorium on presenting the film in Federal Way classrooms, installed by the Board on January 9.

Board Vice President David Larson aired the motion in request of a moratorium on showing the film until the board could determine the extent to which Federal Way teachers had used the documentary in the classroom, and whether
