Beamer bows out of baseball race

Out again. Sigh. Sure, even cry.

For the third straight time the Todd Beamer baseball team made it to but not out of the West Central District playoffs. This time the beating came from Kentwood by a 7-6 score on a seventh inning come-from-behind rally at Heidelberg Park in Tacoma.

A lot took this loss hard, including coach Jerry Peterson.

"I'm not taking this very well right now," said Peterson, obviously choked up over this third state denial.

The year before this the Titans beat Bellarmine, 5-2, then lost to South Kitsap, 1-0.

Raiders get to brink of state

Great improvement in their second district game, a 7-0 win over the Kentridge Chargers, helped immensely to preserve the chance of the Thomas Jefferson Raiders getting to state in 4A fastpitch.

Talking of what led to the improvement, it was the Raider ladies' first game where they were just not all there most of the game against the Central Kitsap Cougars in an opening 6-1 loss at the West Central Districts III tourney at Sprinker Recreation Center Friday.

The Raiders needed to have beaten Curtis Saturday morning (an 11-1 win in five innings) and Gig Harbor (after press t

'Main Street' in Burien

Now that Town Square is well underway, and the Burien business district has a beautifully redecorated street running through it, I propose that the business section of Southwest 152nd Street be renamed "Main Street"-from First Avenue Southwest through Olde Burien.

Main Street could revert to Southwest 152nd Street from the Masonic Temple/St. Elizabeth's west through the residential area.

Wouldn't it be fun to tell our out-of-area friends to "meet us at Town Square on Main Street, Burien"?
