Murder suspect arrested

July 23-A suspect was arrested for the death of a cab driver in SeaTac on July 10 and charged with first-degree murder.

Earnest Lenell Collins, 18, of SeaTac, was arrested in Chicago at the request of King County Sheriff's detectives.

Collins allegedly fled there after the homicide.

Detectives believe Collins called Far West Taxi about 2:30 a.m. on the day of the murder and had a cab sent to 3840 S.

Burien Little Theatre boosts community's economy

A recent Seattle P-I article was headlined, "Arts an Economic Engine." The article explained that arts organizations in the Seattle area generate $330 million annually. The arts were found to be "a cornerstone of Seattle tourism," with "37 percent of audiences" from outside King County."

At Burien Little Theatre, we know from talking to our patrons and local businesses that the arts, and in particular Burien Little Theatre, generate money for the City of Burien. A large number of our patrons eat or shop in the Burien area before or after our performances.

Climate change supported

August 7 will provide you an opportunity to help make Washington a Cool State and keep our planet livable for future generations. That is the day Governor Christine Gregoire's Climate Advisory Team (CAT) meets from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center, 800 Convention Place, Seattle. The public is invited.

The Governor's goals for addressing climate change are to reduce pollution that leads to climate change, grow our clean energy economy, and move toward energy independence.

SeaTac enters the ring on North Highline annexation

A fourth contender may jump into the ring in the seventh round of the North Highline annexation fight.

SeaTac lawmakers voted 4-3 on July 24 to consider annexing the Boulevard Park area as part of the city's comprehensive plan.

Voting to include annexation on the plan's final docket were Deputy Mayor Ralph Shape and councilmen Chris Wythe, Joe Brennan and Don DeHan.

Opposed were Mayor Gene Fisher, Councilman Tony Anderson and Councilwoman Terry Anderson.

The area that SeaTac may seek is much smaller than the entire North Highline unincorporated area

SeaTac garage plans OK'd by city

The SeaTac City Council amended on July 24 a development agreement for a long-delayed parking garage and retail center on International Boulevard.

WallyPark, a self-park and valet facility, will have 1,678 stalls.

About 14,000 square feet of retail space will front on the boulevard with another 3,000 square feet within the structure.

The development is located at the old Airport Plaza Hotel site, 18613 International Boulevard.

Developers said the retail space would house 10 to 12 small tenants that would mostly serve local residents.
