Vino Bello wine bar in Burien at 636 152nd was the site of Burien Battles Cancer on Tuesday, August 26th. The event. sponsored by The Robinson Newspapers and Vino Bello, benefitted the Susan G. Komen for the cure Puget Sound affiliate. 47 prizes were donated totalling more than ten thousand dolllars and raffle tickets raised nearly $2500 in cash donations.

Summer is winding down. Rose hips on our wild Nootka Rose are beginning to swell and mature. Named after a Native American group on Vancouver Island, the Nuu-chah-nulth people, incorrectly known as the Nootka, this rose is common to many parts of the northwest. Nuu-chah-nulth people are found along the Vancouver Island coast, and are most closely related to the Makah people of Washington State.
The Highline Water District should be commended for the plan to redevelop the small McMicken Well site.
However, the District's redevelopment of wells is too slow. At least half of the district's water supply should be coming from wells. This slow well redevelopment, along with a misguided conservation plan and high Seattle water rates are SEVERELY DAMAGING THE AIR WE BREATHE.
To improve the air environment, the District must establish a low flat rate with unlimited water usage for the 3/4-inch residential water line user.
