Apparent suicide victim found by students near Lincoln Park BBQ

By Paul Moseley

The body of apparent suicide victim was found at Lincoln park Monday night. The man, appearing to be in his mid to late 20's, was found hanging in a wooded area on the west side of the Lincoln Park baseball field. He was first noticed by a group of students from Holy Rosary School who were attending an end-of-season track and field celebration. The students, thinking the body may be a prank, notified their coaches.

Holy Rosary Track coach Ralph Pooler followed the students to the site. 'It was hard to find and hard to see in a wooded area by a maintenance shed. I first thought it was a dummy. The more I looked at it the more I was convinced it was real and I decided to call 911.' Coach Pooler and other coaches then blocked the area until authorities arrived.

Seattle Police, Ambulance and Fire responded. Seattle police determined the victim had been deceased 'for a while' and sealed the area for the medical examiner to investigate.

Coaches, parents and students gathered for a brief prayer for the victim before they left the park.

Under Construction
A vicious assault was committed just before 3 p.m. on May 24 in front of a residence on the 8100 block of 27 Ave. S.W. The victim was mowing his lawn and the lawn strips in front of his home and the house next door to him (the residence is currently empty and the lawn is often unkempt) when a black 90’s model Mercedes- Benz pulled to the curb in front of him. The victim told responding officers that he recognized this vehicle as it is frequently parked across the street from his home and playing loud music in the middle of the night. A sticker in the corner of the windshield says “Under Construction”.

Take Two #126: Doing vs. Being

By Kyra-lin Hom

I loathe the small talk ice breaker, “So, what do you do?” You know it. You've been asked it. I'm sure you've even asked it of someone else. As for me, it seems I'm asked that question every single time I meet a new person with very rare and exacting exceptions.

What do I do? Well, let's see. I eat. I speak. I breathe air. I've slept on my side for years but still can't seem to get the pillow just right. I occasionally dress up like a fantasy character and run around swinging a sword. I like rock climbing and walking in the rain. I read and study and write and generally spend way too much time online-- oh! Oh, I'm sorry. You meant 'what's my occupation?' Why didn't you just say so?

SeaTac Bicycle Rodeo

By Gerrie Kellogg

All had good fun at the Bicycle Rodeo this Saturday. Kids hung out with their parents, learning and improving their bike riding skills and knowledge. There was a skill/obstacle course, complete with "cow pies". A bicycle inspection point and helmet fitting station.

There were "Slowpoke" races with prizes, a bicycle raffle for those who participated and free pictures taken with a rodeo theme.

Lunch was also provided for the kids and parents. Fire and police were there, showing off their vehicles with lights and sirens.

A couple of SeaTac police bicycle patrol units were there riding around and helping kids through the course. And a big Thank You to all the volunteers who made this happen.
