Seattle Empty Bowls set for March 13

Join Seattle Empty Bowls for this beloved event on Sunday, March 13th at the Nordic Heritage Museum (3014 NW 67th Street) in Ballard from 4 p.m.–7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Ballard Food Bank.

Seattle Empty Bowls is a fundraiser with artisan flair and a big heart for community. Local artists craft bowls of various materials, shapes, sizes, and textures specifically with this event in mind, donating their time, energy, and materials. Empty Bowls attendees choose a bowl, and can have their bowl filled with a soup of their choice (suggested donation is $20 for most bowls and that includes a scoop of soup, and bread). The bowl is yours to take home. Most of the bowls will be ceramic, but Seattle Empty Bowls is unique because of the involvement of local woodturners as well. Soups, including vegan options, will be provided by Ballard Market, and artisan bread will be on hand from Tall Grass Bakery. Coffee will be served up by Ballard’s own Caffe Umbria. Enjoy the soup and your new bowl alongside community members while enjoying entertainment throughout the evening. Care to make a bid? A silent auction table of specialty bowls will be available too.

Do you want a Restricted Parking Zone in Ballard?

Information provided by SDOT

SDOT would like your input on the Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) Program. Please take a moment to take the Survey.

We’re taking a look at the Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) Program to see how we can make on-street parking in neighborhoods work better. We’d like to hear from you!

Please take a few minutes to complete our survey by March 31, 2016 at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/SeattleRPZ.

About the RPZ Policy Review
Neighborhood conditions and demand for curb space continue to change as Seattle grows. We’re conducting a review of the RPZ Program, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

What does this mean and why are we doing it?
The RPZ program was originally established in 1979 to mitigate the impact of major institutions on residents in nearby neighborhoods. We now have over 30 RPZs in Seattle. The last review of the RPZ program was in 2009, and many Seattle neighborhoods have changed significantly since. This project will look at potential strategies for managing demand for parking in residential areas.

Here’s a snapshot of our schedule:
