It might sound nice to say mom passed away quietly in the presence of her family, but quiet is not something one experiences when the Daigle clan is together. All seven kids, grandkids, in-laws and probably a few curiosity seekers crowded into the small room to say our goodbyes. One by one we toasted her with Bailey's (her favorite) and whiskey, talked with her about the old times and made so much noise that we feared we might get kicked out. Brother-in-law Bill calls it the “Daigle Vortex.”

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), the City of Seattle, and Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) are collaborating on the Emma Schmitz seawall repair. Together we are ensuring a successful cost-sharing program to restore shoreline protection at Emma Schmitz Memorial Overlook in West Seattle. SPR entered into a Project Partnership Agreement with the Corps for the replacement of the seawall. The Corps is responsible for the design of the seawall, and one of the steps in the design process is to take soil borings to inform the final design. Drill equipment will be on site for several days starting the week of June 4.
Erma Martin Couden, an exemplar of love, peace and other Christian values, the matriarch of an extensive family, a former public-school teacher and librarian and a longtime activist in church and civic affairs, died May 24, 2018, at Horizon House in Seattle. She was 103.
In addition to her own accomplishments, Erma also devoted herself, with her husband, Elliott Noble Couden, to family matters and to the advocacy of civil rights and local heritage preservation, all grounded in the pursuit of caring human connections.

A two car collision at 35th SW and Thistle blocked traffic at the intersection around 2pm on Tuesday. A Honda was traveling southbound on 35th when it collided with an SUV heading eastbound on Thistle. Bikes atop the Honda were thrown off the roof of the car.
The people in the Honda left the scene and the car had no license plates visible. One of them was reportedly found in a nearby Honeybucket.
The Little Red Hen Project is supporting the project and donation in the new Farm Stand location near the Shell Station in North Delridge. They are open every Tuesday from 3-7pm. Look for the Farmstand across the street from the future Delridge Grocery Co-op store location 5441 Delridge Way SW.
