Wind Advisory issued; High winds expected Sunday Jan. 6 with possible gusts to 60 mph

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM PST SUNDAY...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 10 AM PST Sunday.

* WIND...South 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...Hoquaim, Forks, Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, Bremerton, Everett, Whidbey Island, Friday Harbor, Bellingham.

* TIMING...South winds will rapidly develop late this evening or early Sunday morning then ease late Sunday morning. For most of the area, the strongest winds will occur in the early morning hours on Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Winds may snap tree branches and cause local power outages.

34th District lawmakers host Town Hall prior to 2019 session

Viaduct closes forever Jan 11; WSDOT offers four videos to guide motorists

The Washington State Department of Transportation is hoping to help people get ready for the closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct  on Jan 11. They are offering tips and hints on how to plan for it and get around once it has closed. Four new videos produced by the state agency offer some guidance.

High winds likely returning on Thursday; Gusts as high as 46mph predicted

Current forecast models from the National Weather Service predict high winds will return on Thursday. The storm will be rain charged too and extend throughout the day. It will be says the weather service "Windy, with a south wind 24 to 33 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph.

Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."

The winds are predicted to be strong from mid morning through early evening with a potential peak around 4pm.

High tide is at 2:15pm for you wind and wave watchers. It's +11.25.

The areas affected by the storm include most of Western Washington interior.
