SeaTac community meeting for Veterans Memorial set for July 17

On Wednesday, July 17, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the SeaTac Community Center (13735 24th Avenue South, SeaTac), John Barker, Landscape Architect from Forrest Gardens, LLC, will share several conceptual designs with the community for our new Veterans Memorial. The project will be completed in time for Veterans Day on November 11, 2019 and commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new memorial will pay tribute to our military veterans for their service. It will incorporate engraved commemorative tile pavers as a lasting remembrance ofthe ones who have selflessly served our country.

If you went to Sealth High School, or are married to someone who did, or if you worked there, or are related to someone who did, or if you are just a huge admirer of the school itself, you are invited! The Fourth Annual All School Reunion is happening July 26 at Lincoln Park, lower level.

Take this opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new on Friday, July 26 at Lincoln Park. 

Food will be available from Dante's Inferno Dogs for $10 per person which includes a gourmet hot dog or burger, chips and a drink.

First time ever: Water taxi will take you to the Vashon Strawberry Festival on Saturday

For the first time ever, King County Water Taxi will offer Saturday service to and from Vashon Island for the Strawberry Festival on July 20. 

Water Taxi staff added the Saturday service to provide an additional option to attend the popular festival. Other travel options are available through West Seattle, Southworth, or Tacoma.

Ballard SeafoodFest will rock your world (and tastebuds) this weekend

The 45th Annual Ballard SeafoodFest set to take over the streets of the community July 12 through 14 is chock full of seafood (and plenty of other choices), music (see the schedule below), more than 60 vendors, arts and crafts, a FREE game plank, the region's largest skateboarding competition, Festibowl, a beer (in Ballard? uh ya think?) and cocktail garden and yes to the delight of some and the dismay of others the Lutefisk eating contest.

It kicks off at 5pm on Friday runs to 11pm then from 11am Saturday to 11pm and Sunday from 11am to 9pm.

King County Sheriff responds to request to release records to ICE

Admits failure in previous record release efforts

King County Sheriff Mitzi Johanknecht released a statement regarding the release of records to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Sheriff said:

 

I have repeatedly promised transparency to the good people of King County. I have also promised to earn and maintain community trust by being open about our mistakes and to explain what I will do to fix them.
