King County Sheriff shares sex offender notice

The King County Sheriff's office has shared a notification regarding a sex offender  in West Seattle named Matthew Douglas Dragovich who now lives in the 2400 block of Holden Street SW.

Dragovich is 27 years old, 5' 11 years old and weighs 250 lbs.

Dragovich was 23 years old in 2016 when he was convicted of Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes. The victim was known to him.

New four story apartment building with 22 units and no parking proposed for 41st Ave SW

A Land Use Application has been filed with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections to allow a 4-story apartment building at  4807 41st Ave SW with 22 small efficiency dwelling units. No parking proposed. The existing building will be demolished.

It is project # 3027259-LU.

The following approval is required:

SEPA - Environmental Determination (Seattle Municipal Code Chapter 25.05)

BACKGROUND

The proposed development is going through Streamlined Design Review under Record numbers 3027259-EG and 6668658-CN.

The site was granted Relief on Steep Slope Development by the SDCI Geotechnical Engineer on December 2, 2019 under Record number 6760245-EX:

Enjoy free music in the West Seattle Junction!

The Art of Music is a series of performances by musicians presented by the West Seattle Junction Association (partial funding by: Seattle Office of Arts & Culture) and scheduled to take place on, and complement, Second Thursday Art Walk evenings.

The final 2019 performance in the series will take place on Thursday, December 12 at Verity Credit Union (4505 California Avenue SW) from 6:00 - 7:40 pm, and features Marina Christopher — a rising star in the Seattle jazz scene! Embracing the music of pop and RnB.

Public meeting set for Dec. 17 on 130 unit 5 story apartment bldg. proposed for Harbor Ave SW

An Early Design Review community outreach meeting has been set for Tuesday, December 17th, 6:30 pm on a 130 unit five story apartment building proposed for 3417 Harbor Ave SW. (spanning 3405, 3411 and 3417) to be held at Hiawatha Community Center. The project would include a parking garage on the main floor for roughly 25% of the units or 32 spaces. The number is subject to change.

New Seasons Market in Ballard will close at the end of the month after being aquired by Good Food Holdings

Portland-based New Seasons Market announced they will close their Ballard location at the end of the month. The company has been acquired by a South Korean grocer called Good Food Holdings. It opened less than two years ago.

The location is less than a mile from eight other grocery stores, including a new PCC Community Market. 

New Seasons said it will help employees  find jobs at Metropolitan Market stores around Seattle or at New Seasons stores in the Portland area, where its brand will remain on stores.

UPDATE: Amber Alert cancelled for children taken from West Seattle home: Vehicle found and suspects now released

UPDATE 6:30am

The suspects in a child abduction case that prompted an Amber Alert have been released after being detained in Cheney, Wa. No weapons were found in the motor home that was part of the Alert. The suspects who were said to have denied the children needed medication were awaiting further court action. The children were unharmed and were being held by Child Protective Services overnight in Cheney. The couple live near 26th SW and Delridge in West Seattle.

UPDATE 7:30pm

According to the Washington State Patrol the vehicle associated with the AMBER alert issued on Tuesday evening has been located just west of Cheney. Everyone is safe and suspect is in custody. Troopers are on scene investigating.
